The EKSO GT ™ manufactured by an American Company EKSO BIONICS is a portable bionic skeleton designed for the rehabilitation of virtually every patient with lower limbs. It allows you to move up and down in a chair, and to walk naturally, with the correct load between the legs. A prerequisite for the training is the logical contact with the patient. The sloshing machine is powered by batteries, the movements are performed by means of motors, which helps to lose the neuromuscular functions, thanks to what it enables the following:

  • people with total paralgysis, with minimal forearm to walk and perform walking movements;
  • Re-teach the patient the correct gait patterns;
  • Help to set foot on the ground.

EKSO GT ™ is a pediatric reeducation device designed to be used under the supervision of a therapist in patients with varying degrees of paralysis (neurological or traumatic) (neurological or traumatic) (eg stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury). The escalator supports the walk in patients, and practically every user admitted by the physician to the training sessions was already in the first session. Exoskeleton can use, among others. patients with:

  • Total core damage up to C7 inclusive;
  • Partial damage to the core (at any level);
  • Past stroke incident;
  • Multiple sclerosis;
  • Muscular dystrophy;
  • Cerebral Palsy;
  • Guillain-Barre disease;
  • Cranio-cerebral injury.

EKSO GT has been designed for centers where therapists interact with different patients during the day. The device is applied to the patient’s clothes, and the adjustment itself takes less than 5 minutes. The EKSO GT ™ allows you to perform functional rehabilitation, walking and cross-country workloads in an unprecedented way through the following unique features:

  • Step Generator program allows you to choose optimal training parameters so as the patient could start walking as fas as possible ( during the first session) and at the same time so as it could be possible to move to set optimial training parameters ( eg. To set walking patters and a number of steps per session);
  • various training modes allow the device to fit the patients progress;
  • Special tool to control the accuracy and symmetricality of movement performed in terms of walking biomechanics.

The EKSO GT ™ treadmill allows you to practice walking in several different modes:

  • FirstStep ™ – the therapist initiates movement with a button. The user moves from the up and down movement of the walker to the gait even after the first session;

  • ActiveStep ™ – user activates subsequent moves with pushbuttons or crutches;

  • ProStep ™ – The user steps by moving the hips forward while twisting them. EKSO GT ™ recognizes that the patient has achieved the optimum position and takes a step;

  • ProStep Plus ™ – The steps are triggered by the patient’s load and the forward motion of the limb.

Variable Assist is an innovative and unique technology solution that allows patients to maximize their walking power. Depending on the purpose of the training, the therapist can determine the specific value of the strength with which EKSO GT ™ is intended to aid the patient’s movement or allow the device to automatically detect the strength with which the patient interacts and adjust to the strength with which it supports real-time movement. For example, a therapist may set a greater power of support to focus on walking quality or less power to focus on developing the movement of the initiating gait. Available modes of Variable Assist are:

  • Bilateral Max Assist – the device uses a maximum level of support, since the patient does not require any interaction with the lower limbs on the device, the initiation of movement requires the ability to maintain balance and load tradnsfer between the parties;

  • Adaptive Assist – the patient puts in as much force as he or she can, the device automatically detects and adds the missing strength, resulting in patient’s gait being fluid. The therapist receives feedback about the strength with which the device supports the patient so that he / she can perform the step within a specified time;

  • Fixed Assist – Each EKSO GT ™ leg operates at a specified level of support (0 – 100), so that the patient performs the steps at certain times. The level of support is determined by the information obtained during Adaptive Assist, so the therapist can track the effects of different training modes on the progression of the rehabilitation process.

The EKSO GT ™ is able to provide sound feedback to the patient. It helps to inform the patient whether he or she performs the load transfer correctly during the initiation of the step (with respect to the correctness of movement in the sagittal and frontal plane). The training mode is used to determine the proper range of motion when moving a patient while preparing to pass from ActiveStep ™ to ProStep ™.

Required documents for qualifying for an exoskeleton treatment:

  • current (not older than year) result (photo on the plate or film) x-ray of the hip joints.

Patients with meningomyelocele are additionally required to submit the result of the bone density test no older than 1 year, at the latest on the first day of the stay.

Patients after spinal injuries are required to submit the result (pictures on the plate or film) x-ray of the spine not older than 1 year, at the latest on the first day of the stay.
